SPRING/SUMMER 2022

The Responsible collection

We have always pursued the value of simplicity and base our design philosophy on enduring modernity. We believe a design should be born bold and defiant and then age to become a classic; not fall into obsolescence.

We are developing our products with an increasingly sustainable approach. We are constantly searching for new ways and procedures, preserving the same ethic, traditional technique, and natural technology.

In addition to this, we are improving our production process and supply chain.Minimizing the impact is a never-ending journey: our intention is to continue growing in this direction.

Superga®: classic, iconic, vegan

Superga®’s iconic style is a symbol of simplicity. We subtract to refine and reveal the essence of a design: cotton, natural rubber, aluminum. All materials are carefully chosen. We are proud to state that the manufacturing process and the materials of our 2750 COTU CLASSIC and many other styles are certified100% vegan friendly and cruelty-free.

Superga®’s Organic Collection is the natural evolution of our brand. Superga® is aiming at employing the resources of our planet in an elegant and wise way, with natural materials and botanical dyes.

Organic cotton

The organic cotton employed in the manufacturing of our shoes is sourced in Vietnam, according to the internationally recognized organic farming standards.

Botanical dyes

The organic cotton is dyed with 100% plant-based dyes, and their output depend entirely on geographical location and weather.

Natural cork insole

The insole of the Organic styles is composed by a layer of natural cork, a simple yet extraordinary material. Light, durable, water-resistant, and hypoallergenic.

Recycled rubber

The recycled outsole composition of the Organic Collection styles will increase from about 10% recycled rubber in some of the styles in Spring Summer 2022 to 35% in all Organic styles in Fall Winter 2022.

Vegan faux leather

Superga®wants to respond to the need of those consumers who adopt a vegan lifestyle with a synthetic leather proposal, which is perfect for cold weather.

Vegan faux leather

This material is composed by a base layer of microfiber that simulates the leather consistence and a second layer of PU-coated surface and has been certified as Vegan by the China Quality Certification Centre.

Recycled materials

Recycled nylon:this material is made from 100% recycled PET

Recycled faux suede:this fabric is made from polyester and mimics the appearance and texture of real suede, but it’s easier to clean and preserve.

Recycled rubber

This material is composed by a base layer of microfiber that simulates the leather consistence and a second layer of PU-coated surface and has been certified as Vegan by the China Quality Certification Centre.

Packaging and accessories

The company’s commitment is not limited to product research, but it also extends to packaging and accessories.

Paper and ink:starting from Fall Winter 2022, all packaging and hangtags will be printed on FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certified recycled paper, with soy-based ink, plant-based coatings, and UV printing.

Soy ink:soy-based ink is considered a sustainable alternative to petroleum-based ink because it is extracted from soybeans, and not petroleum. The VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds) that are usually generated during printing processes are absent, compared to those produced by petroleum ink.

Plant-based coatings:plant-based coatings are considered sustainable because they use plant waste from large companies. So, no use of petroleum, while maintaining a PU-like effect. In addition to plant-based coating, there is water-based coating. Recently, water-based coating has become the most used.

UV printing:the UV component is considered eco-friendly because it is a “non-VOC” additive. This means that no solvents, that could be harmful to the atmosphere, are released. The soy ink we use in which the UV coating is present will have no difficulty in being removed when the packaging is recycled.

Hangtag cord:starting from Fall Winter 2022, it will be made from recycled nylon, recycled paper, or jute.

Shoe filler:made from 100% recycled and recyclable plastic.
